Wheat Halwa


Wheat Halwa one of the best and easy sweet. Wheat Halwa recipe with step by step photos and guidelines. Halwa made from whole wheat flour or maida. A popular sweet made in India.  This halwa recipe is too easy to make and melt in your mouth. This can be made for any occasion or any normal day without any reason. It could be celebration, a festival or when you just want to have something sweet. Nothing can be equal as you perpare  your food by your hands for your family members. It has additional sweet by your love. This halwa is soft and moist in texture. You can serve this halwa as a sweet dessert after meal. Made this sweetie in your home and suprise your loved ones.



INGREDIENTS 

  • Wheat flour - 1 cup
  • Sugar - 2 cups 
  • Ghee - 1 & 1/2 cups
  • Water - 3 cups 
  • cardamom powder - 3 tsp 
  • cashews - as per your wish
  • Food colour - little pinch  (I'm using orange colour)
  • salt - a pinch (to enhance the sweet taste)

METHOD 

  1. First in a bowl add the flour and water and mix it well without any lumps using a hand beater of fork.
  2. Next, keep a thick bottom and non stick pan (so  that the flour mixture does not get burn) in the burner. 
  3. Add half cup of ghee and when it is hot add the cashews keep this for a while when it's turn into golden brown take it out. Place aside.
  4. In the same pan, filter the flour and water mixture to the pan.
  5. Keep stirring constantly to avoid the burn.
  6.  Continue to stir and mix very well. You cannot take a break at this step. So stir continuously. 
  7. Keep on stirring so that lumps are not formed. 
  8. The halwa will absorb water and will continue to thicken quickly. 
  9. when the halwa consistency is semi thick or thick, add food colouring, sugar, salt and cardamom powder mix well.
  10. (I'm using brown sugar to enhance the colour of halwa)
  11. And add the rested cup of ghee little by little. 
  12. Continue to stir and mix well. 
  13. you will soon get the aroma of the halwa. Keep on stirring to ensure  even browning.
  14. At the last stage add the roasted cashews to the mixture and give it one last mix.
  15. Finally, when it comes to one thick ball take it out of the flame and transfer to oil or ghee greased pan. 
  16. And set aside.
  17. After it is full set cut into pieces and serve.


Step by step guide with pictures 


  1. Add the flour to a bowl.



2. Add the water to the flour.



3. Mix it throughly without any lumps.



4. In a bottom thick pan add half of the ghee and add cashews and when it's turn into golden brown colour take it out and set aside. 



5. In the same pan pour the flour and water mixture. 



6. In this stage you should not go any where else because you have to stirring constantly.



7. When the flour mixture is getting thick you have to add colouring.



8. After added colour add sugar (I am using brown sugar to enhance the colour)



9. Then the cardamom powder and mix well continuously.



10. Finally add the roasted cashews to the mixture and give it a mix.



11. When the ghee float on the mixture and the mixture have to be like on ball in this stage turn off the flame. And take it out.



12. In a oil or ghee greased pan  pour this mixture and shape that with using a spatula or spoon.



13. Keep that aside for some hour. After it is completely set, cut into pieces and serve.
