Tawa Naan |Naan Rooti| Naan with Tandoor
Naan bread is one of the common bread throughout the whole south Asian with any kind of curry, a perfect naan is a goldmine of taste. Although naan bread is very common, it is early cooked at home. Just because it requires a tandoor to make a naan. But nowadays people started to cook it at home with any alternative to the tandoor. Even it is possible to cook it in your typical gas stove. In this post, I have tried to show you the best and simple way of cooking a perfect naan roti.
INGREDIENTS
- All purpose flour - 2 cups
- Plain yogurt -1 /2 cup
- Salt - to taste
- Sugar - 1 tsp
- Baking soda - 1/2 tsp
- Oil - 2 tbsp
- Water
- Butter - 1 tsp (optional)
INSTRUCTIONS
- In a large mixing bowl add all purpose flour, baking soda, sugar, salt mix all the dry ingredients.

- Then add oil mix and make it to crumbs.
- Now add yogurt mix well.
- While mixing add water little by little until make semi soft dough.
- Apply some oil to the dough and cover amd keep a aside for 2 to 3 hours.
- Take the dough and again knead the dough for another 10 minutes.
- Divide the dough into balls.
- Take one ball dust some flour on the surface and the dough.
- Then spread the dough to less than 1/4 inch thick.
- Apply some water on one side of the naan dough.
- Heat the tawa (compulsorily don't use a non stick tawa) on medium heat.
- Put water side naan over tawa .
- Once the naan start bubbling and dough start drying , turn the tawa over flames keeping about 2 inch way from the flame to cook the naan from top.
- NOTE: Yes naan will stick to tawa and will not fall of, this the reason you can not use nonstick skillet.
- Once naan browned to your satisfaction.
- Remove from the tawa.
- Spread the butter all over the naan.
- Place on a plate and cover with a cloth to keep warm until serving.
