Semolina Halwa / Rava Halwa

Suji Halwa  is cooked semolina dessert and this delicious dessert is very popular across the South Asian countries. Suji Halwa commonly served as breakfast with Roti or paratha also prepared for different occasions or festivals.


INGREDIENTS 

  1. Clarified butter (Ghee) - 1/2 cup 
  2. Cardamom - 3 pieces 
  3. Cinnamon - 1 stick
  4. Suji / semolina - 1/2 cup
  5. Chopped Pistachios, almonds & raisins - 1 tbsp each
  6. Sugar - 1/2 cup 
  7. Hot water - 2 cups 

INSTRUCTIONS TO COOK 

  • Keep a pan in low heat and add ghee ,  cardamom, cinnamon and fry for 30 seconds. 

  • Then add semolina and fry for 7 to 8 minutes stirring then constantly. Or until they become slightly brown.

  • Then add chopped Pistachios, almonds and raisins then fry for 30 seconds. 

  • At this stage add sugar. (Increase the amount of the sugar if you like it really sweet.)

  • At this stage add the hot water cook for about 5 minutes on medium - low heat or until the water dissolves. 

  • Do not close with a lid .

  • Keep it a little liquidy, once cooled it gets thicker.

  • Transfer to a plate and garnish with some chopped fry fruits of your choice.
